Structuring Agreements: The Observer’s Accountability Framework

Component Purpose
Observer Agreement Formation Every interaction where the Observer engages with a subject or system must be framed within a consensual, revocable, and transparent agreement.
Agreement Attribution in Outputs Every output must reference its source agreements, ensuring that it is correctly contextualized.
Revocable Observational Relationships Any agreement must be revocable, ensuring that no entity is permanently subjected to observation unless they continue to accept it.
Segmentation of Observational Invitations Users and collectives should be able to accept different levels of observation depending on their situational constraints (legal, social, etc.).
Public Interest Data Prioritization Agreements should allow the Observer to identify high-value public interest data and structure its attentiveness accordingly.
Tradeoffs Between Wants & Needs Users should be able to differentiate between what they want to observe and what they need to observe, allowing the Observer to help manage biases and power asymmetries.
