THE Z LENS · THE Z LEARNER · THE ORTHOGONAL LEARNER · THE FACE
The Orthogonal Learner — the face: x's register fixed from the top, and x's register learned up from below
the learner's face, after the bend · an interactive engine over the quad slip's own apparatus
Two registers of one number. On the left, x at the record's forty carries its register as it stands — the thirds from the top, 0 then 1 then 2 — the
ontological 0, 1, 2, fixed. Beside it, the same forty as the learner comes to know them, climbing from the lock at the bottom: 2s first, then 1s, then 0s — the
onto-epistemic 0, 1, 2, learned up. On the right, y as the quad slip runs it, or the structure. The bend stands at /rlx/bend; the plate of two depths at /rlx/bend/two.
What this instrument is, and his word it was built for
His word (21 October 2026): "I'd also like a version of this experiment that is similar to the bend. I want to 'see' the ontological 0,1,2 as apposed to the 'onto-epistemic' 0,1,2 of the smaller value of x.
when the first is 'fixed' and the other is 'learned up' from below as 2's then 1's and then s 0's..."
As the house reads it: x's register as it stands — the thirds from the top, fixed — is the ontological 0, 1, 2; x's register as the learner of §58 comes to know it, climbing from the lock — its
expectation at each row the last reading seen, 2s then 1s then 0s, its surprises where the thirds change — is the onto-epistemic 0, 1, 2. The learner reads the right as well, a 1 at every
position, its distance from the observer's 0 at the right's lock; what holds and what surprises sets the trust line, opening at the cone's edge and closing toward the vertical, and the
plate's lawful window at the row sets the top's bound. Where the trust line stands outside the bound the two knowings overlap. Over the quad slip's own apparatus (§63) the epochs are not all
ten and the trust line holds near two and three-quarter degrees at every count; over the structure (§59) it closes with the count. A pure computation in this process; nothing written; no random draw
anywhere; nothing here is a claim.

The plate
Each side in its own 1. Left of x's marks, two columns of cells: the ontological register, fixed, and the onto-epistemic register, filled as the learner climbs — a cell ringed red
where the learner was surprised. The observer's 0 at the right's lock; from it the trust line (accent) at the row's angle from the vertical, tilted toward the side of the last surprise, and the top's
bound (gold, dashed) either side of the vertical. x's marks and y's marks on their locked lines; z's registration columns in ash.
The trust line against the top's bound, row by row
The climb runs left to right, from the lock to the first row. The trust line's angle from the vertical (accent) and the top's bound (gold) on a signed square-root scale; the dot is the row
reached. Where the accent stands above the gold the trust line is outside the bound — the overlap.
The climb of the onto-epistemic register
Each of x's rows from the lock upward: what the learner expected ▸ what it read; a surprise ringed. Rows the learner has not reached are dimmed.
The seats, as the house set them — his to move
the ontological 0, 1, 2 — x's register by the thirds of §55's second method, read from the top: rows 1 to 13 the 0, 14 to 26 the 1, 27 to 40 the 2; fixed.
the onto-epistemic 0, 1, 2 — the learner's expectation of x's register at each row, the last reading seen, climbing from the lock; 2s, then 1s, then 0s; a surprise at 26 and at 13 where the thirds change.
the trust line — O2 of §58: the angle from the vertical (1 − c) × 45°, c the share of predictions held, toward the side of the last surprise; the levels 2, 1, 0 as c in thirds.
the top's bound — the plate's lawful inward window at the row, over the apparatus's own marks (its binding rows) or the structure's; the bubble the gap between the two.
the apparatus — §63: y the quad slip's pinned calibration run to the count, its epochs not all ten, its signs not all alternating; the learner's memory by face, its boundaries learned from the jumps.
The engine: ooi_network/daemon/rlx_zortho.py, face; the design's §66. His words stand verbatim in the design; the record is the identifier and never the jury; K never staked; the priors stand.
